P0598: Find Why the Heater Circuit Reads Low

P0598 means Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Low. The engine controller detected a low electrical state in the heater control circuit of an electronically regulated thermostat. It does not mean the coolant level is low, the engine is necessarily running cold, or the thermostat is definitely defective.
Start by saving codes and freeze frame, checking cooling-system safety, and identifying the exact heater circuit. Then inspect the connector and wiring and test the power, control path, and heater according to the vehicle manufacturer's procedure.
What Does the P0598 Code Mean?
A map-controlled thermostat contains an electrical heater that influences the opening behavior of its temperature-sensitive element. This gives the engine controller additional control over cooling under changing load. The thermostat heater is not the same component as the engine coolant temperature sensor, and it is not the cabin heater.
The word low describes the circuit monitor's result. A short to ground is one possible explanation, but supply loss, damaged terminals, a faulty heater, or a control-stage problem may produce different results on different designs.
